I saw this in local supermarket (Switzerland) about a month ago, I was also surprised a little.
wow - strange idea!
Hope it comes with building instructions for a combi model!
I doubt there will be such a thing, but I do remember a combined model for the excavator and the telehandler which appeared in the LEGO Club magazine (?). Does anyone know if it's still available for download somewhere?

Why you speak of innovation? Where is innovation? Pneumatics, Forklift, Excavator, Bulldozer...are innovative? Hmmmmmm... The only innovative set LEGO have released for Technic fans in last years are the Power Functions Bulldozer and the WONDERFUL Monster Dino (4958, Creator!!) I'm still waiting for very innovative technic sets to come...something really diferent from the well knows cars, dozers, tractors etc...etc...
Well you are right! "Innovation" was not the best chosen word at all.
I mean't we are getting a few things different from the recent years:
- the pneumatics return. Not an innovation in its true sense, but a return somehow unexpected.
- This pack in itself is also not an innovation in the Technic theme, but also something very rare to happen.
It is a minor thing, but unusual and deserves its mention.
- The new parts we are getting are innovative despite we get something new every year.
So I was not meaning breakthrough innovations in terms of sets or parts, but signs of things changing even if minor to the eyes of some.
As far as I know (and Blakbird, the unofficial TECHNIC historian, may confirm/deny this), there have been several Superpacks in the LEGO roster, but never before in TECHNIC. That is an innovation!
And, since I only buy some of each year's sets, I find it funny that all of this Superpack's contents are sets that I already have! :D
Brickset, lists one other Technic Bonus/Value pack, for the Technic theme.
