These new images from the set 8070 (Super Car), have been around for a few days, but I was too busy preparing the previous post...
For the case that some of you have not seen them yet, here they are.
The respective B-model is also being revealed in this set of images. A fantastic Hot Rod!
8070 - Super Car / Hot Rod
- Retail Price: 109,99€ *
From the new images we can also preview the mechanism used to open the magnificent Butterfly Doors (not exactly the same as Scissor Doors), based on the rotation of a bent liftarm. Very clever design solution!
The B-model (Hot Rod) uses of course, the fateful traditional Suicide Doors...
On top of the functions already know from the main model [1], the new revealed B-model seem to have, at least the following set of functions.
- Motorized doors (all together or right/left separated as in the main model).
- Motorized retractile hard top.
- Switch box to control to select the motorized functions (as many positions, as independent functions existing in this model).
- HOG Steering, but no driving wheel steering.
- 4-wheel independent suspension.
- V8 engine.
How many will you buy from this one

*) Indicative price. Retail prices vary across countries.

Probably pass on this one, I'm not a big fan of cars. Its functionality is neat but not what I like in a model. Maybe if it is suitably complex, I'll buy it on discount.
'Till then, I've still got 8053 and 8069 to pick up :)
Great main model for year 2011!P.s.:I don´t think so, that there will be more bigger and more complex set than this supercar.If yes, how many people will be able to afford it?
@Anonymous
Sure there will! :)
Well in that case, I have no idea what would emerge as the main model in the second half of year.This supercar is just like the main model, a large complex and expensive set which attracts all.There is no room for two kings...:-)
Despite we still don't know its partcount, it doesn't seem to have the ammount of parts neither the size from the latest flagships.
I'm going to get me 2 copy's of the 8070. I really love the way the design team at TLG gives us very interesting a- and b-models.
I think we all are going to be pleasantly surprised with the 2h2011 models.
The link to the pics don't work... :(
@Hikaru755
The pictures available, are in the post.
The link you refer, points do Brickset, which does not yet uploaded this pictures. However it a common practice here, to link sets references to Brickset, for further reference.
No, Hikaru is correct,

All the fullsize (except the first one) images are missing.
The images have incorrect links.
Replace '20101212_2' or '20101202_2' with '20101212_1'.
You are right. Sorry!
I've mistyped some links. :P
They were fixed meanwhile.
Enjoy! ;)
There is another picture available...

Ok, I'll add it! :)
I thought I seen a part count of 1286 pieces somewhere. I think this set is really cool. I don't like how they cut away the seats to make room that they didn't have. Kind of cheesy if you ask me.
I also don't think that this car has a retractable roof. It is obviously fixed to the front windscreen. The rear spoiler retracts under the rear spoiler if that is what you mean. Also, how do you know that both doors can open at the same time? Maybe they were just opened individually and intentionally.
It also looks like there is one of those 9L steering links that is pushing the door outwards as it opens forwards. What exactly do you mean by the rotation of a bent beam?
@anonymous
The retractable roof is referred to the B-model.
The bent beam is in fact a bent liftarm (corrected in the post text). Part 6629.
Is it just me or is the front end of this car really long? You could fit a V16 in there! Also don't like the seats. Other than that, it should be a fun set to build!
