Today another model from John Vlemmix (Jovel, Jovlem), member from LOWLUG.
He built a vehicle with parts from 9398, 4x4 Crawler only. Just for the case you like something that can run faster. 
Notice the working steering wheel and the rear live axle with suspension.
What else can you build with this year's LEGO Technic flagship, only?

There may be lots of vehicles that could be built with the 9398's parts. I bet that the Oct 2012 "Lego Technic Challenge" that Jeppe Juul Jensen announced ( http://technic.lego.com/en-US/Designers/Blog/Default.aspx?date=5/8/2012 ) has the same thought!
i dont think that they would make a contest which is neccessary to buy the flagship set

Well... it won't be easy to find an alternative for the new PF elements.
too bad lego dind't make a second model for the flagship, just a rebuild of the canopy.
Last years (unimog) alternative build was also based on the same undercarriage.
I hope in the future they'll make some alternative builds that are complete rebuilds and not some modification of the main build.
Maybe the building instructions of this one will find it's way onto (digital) paper?
